Interview with Derek McConnell who works there about their reduction in hours due to funding cuts. Interview with the vice chair of the Small Heath management Committee Joyce Farley.

Vera then joins Derek McConnell to visit Byron Road in Small Heath where local residents are unhappy with a compulsory purchase order from Birmingham City Council due to plans for a new road. We see exterior shots of the houses under threat of demolition. Next Vera visits the Handsworth Law Centre. Inside we see a client talking about citizenship. The centre has in the past received seventy five percent funding from the government but that has now ended and the centre wants Birmingham City Council to step in. Interview with Kenneth Furness of Birmingham City Council who would prefer to see the money going into a more general community centre. Interview with Mal Collins from the centre about their role and allegations that they have political motivations.
