Description

The first item is a report about John Pepper from Hardwick in Northamptonshire who describes himself as a 'timber man'. He has a business cutting down dangerous trees and also hand makes wooden skittles. We see Pepper at work felling a tree and in his small workshop turning skittles. He is known for making a particular style of skittle as used in the Northamptonshire League and uses traditional techniques handed down from his father.

Next at Mount Skippet in Oxfordshire Tony Francis meets Morris Rogers who opens his garden to the public. We see visitors inspecting his flowers.

Finally Gerry Monte reports about the annual wheat harvest at Long Bennington in Lincolnshire. We see farmer Alan Bishop at work with farm worker Dennis Andrews and his wife Marian Bishop and son Mark Bishop. The report shows Bishop driving a combine harvester and the interviews discuss the declining income of farmers, the effects of the weather and how the practice has changed over the years (archive stills are used).
