Imogen Holst is interviewed throughout the film talking about her father. Subjects covered include: Holst's friendship with Vaughan Williams; visits to the Three Choirs Festival; work on the Planets; interest in folk music including a festival at Thaxted in Essex; and his teaching at St Paul's Girls School in London. We see Holst's birthplace in Cheltenham which is now a museum, All Saints Church in Cheltenham which provided early inspiration and the village of Wyck Rissington in the Cotswolds where Holst had his first musical employment as church organist. The Ex Cathedra choir perform several of Holst's vocal works.
