Description

The opening section shows crowds gathered on the platform of Peterchurch railway station including children. A steam hauled train arrives and the passengers board. We then see the only colour section which includes an inter-title 'The train returns to Peterchurch August 17 1950' and shows the line with weeds indicating it is out of use and a deserted Peterchurch station. We then return to b/w and see the train arriving again and passengers boarding. The final section shows a loco decorated with a union flag arriving pulling a guards van on the final service on 30 January 1953. Several dignitaries are visible including the Mayor of Hereford A.E. Farr. We see people on the platform at Dorstone station and the final shot shows a members of railway staff locking the station building.

Notes

The film covers several years from c1949 to 1953. The date of the final train and line closure was found on the History of Ewyas Lacy website which includes copies of the Hereford Times coverage of the event.
