Description

We see demolition work underway at the Petrifying Well Museum alongside the A6 at Matlock Bath. There are views of road works to make the road wider as well as new buildings being constructed further away from the line of the road. At one point a large boulder is dropped by a digger and a crane is later employed to lift it. We then see earlier shots (c1966) of buildings alongside the A6 which were demolished during the scheme. This section shows traffic passing the Petrifying Well Museum and the Devonshire Café. The final section shows the completed road and views of the new Riverside Tea Rooms (shot later c1971).
