Description

Opening section shows athletics taking place in the grounds of a school or college (likely to be Mansfield Grammar School). Boys take part in the long jump and sprint races. We then cut to another location and see cricket players walking off a field and met by a group of boys who are collecting autographs. The next section shows at event at Old Market Square in Nottingham. A large crowd has gathered (possibly for the opening of the Council House in 1929). We then cut to a group of dignitaries on the balcony of Mansfield Town Hall with a crowd watching from below (again we do not know the actual event). The next section is a print of a professional film showing the procession to mark the state opening of Parliament on 7 February 1928. We then return to home movie for a view of the River Trent at Gunthorpe with the Unicorn Hotel visible behind. We also see a man walking through a forest, people skating at an indoor roller rink and further views of a river (probably also the Trent).
