Description

We begin with a series of letters from female viewers complaining about a recent schedule change that has seen the afternoon programmes replaced by coverage of a snooker tournament. A replying statement is read out from Central Television's programme planner Barry Wood. The next letters all write in praise of the ITC series 'Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)'. It appears to be an organised campaign as many originate from an Oxford based fan club for the 1960s show. An extract from the drama series is shown. The next letter requests Sunday church services for Baptists or Methodists to be shown alongside the usual Church of England worship. Wendy responds by saying that the IBA already ensures that this happens.

Next, we have a follow up to an item on the programme in September in which Wendy spoke to the presenter Bob Holness about his quiz show for teenagers, 'Blockbusters'. Then he was responding to complaints but this week the letters are generally in favour of the series including the parents of a boy who watched it in hospital (a brief clip from the Holness interview is reshown). The next letter appeals for help with finding former pupils from Queen Mary's High School for Girls in Walsall (a still is shown) for a reunion. Finally a viewer in Derby writes in asking how they can receive the East Midlands Central service. Wendy gives details of a campaign in the city in which viewers can get a new aerial for £15.

The tape also includes the end of the East Midlands edition of Central Post which has a different final item from a viewer who writes in asking why the show's 'bouquet of the week' never goes to a man and that men like flowers as much as women.
