A thousand miners at Manton Colliery were persuaded to walk out by eight pickets from Frickley Colliery near Pontefract in South Yorkshire in a dispute over the new disclipinary code of conduct produced by British Coal. Interview with Frickley Colliery NUM spokesman Paul Hinchcliffe, Frank Underwood NUM secretary at Manton Colliery and John Burrows who is the North Derbyshire NUM representative.
