We see the arrival of the royal couple by car in Northampton town centre. Princess Diana inspected the Royal Pioneer Corps before the couple visited the Holy Sepulchre church to launch the celebrations to mark the 800th anniversary of the borough charter. Inside the church the couple met the Bishop of Peterborough and looked at displays. Next at the Guildhall the princess received the honorary freedom of the borough in a ceremony.
