Also today the NCB Chairman Ian MacGregor visited the Vale of Belvoir to see the new site for the new mine at Asfordby in Leicestershire where construction work is due to begin in August. Shots of Ray Chadburn being jostled outside the NUM meeting in Sheffield. He is requesting a strike ballot in each area, but the NUM voted to allow areas to join the strike which has begun in Yorkshire and Scotland without holding ballots. Shots of Ian MacGregor looking at maps and inspecting the site at Asfordby. Andrew Simmons talked to MacGregor about today's events in Sheffield. He said that he was looking to the future but the people in Sheffield were looking to the past. We also see a press conference in which MacGregor talked further about the strike problems in the coal industry.
