Description

Today is Shrove Tuesday and the animal rights campaigners were in Nottingham city centre collecting signatures for a petition calling for an end to battery farming. Shots of protestors with banners and carrying cages with stuffed chickens. Interview with campaigner Mike Grundy, about the conditions under which hens are kept. Library film shots of battery eggs and chickens. Shots of free range chickens on a free-range farm at Kimberley owned by Dorothy Godbar. We hear her comments in a voice over - she says that with the amount of eggs people want they have to be produced on battery farms. Exterior of Marks and Spencer in Nottingham (Mr Grundy tried to take his petition to them but they refused to take it - the firm do not sell free range eggs).
