Programme presented by Jon Lander who begins the programme by unveiling the new Spanish made Seat car parked in a scene dock at the Central studio in Birmingham. We then see film of the Seat Ibiza which goes on sale tomorrow being driven past the Bull Ring in Birmingham and demonstrated in a car park. Graphics are used to show how much more expensive British cars are in Spain than the Seat is in the UK due to unfair tariff barriers. In the studio Lander discusses the impact of the new car on the Midlands motor industry and in particular Austin Rover. He talks to the Conservative MP for Northfield, Roger King; Ken Cure of the Engineering Union; Douglas Clare of Seat UK and via a video link to London, the Minister for Trade, Paul Channon.
Next Rob Whitehouse rounds up the latest news which includes two short studio interviews with the Conservative MP for Solihull, John Taylor who calls for a curb on the sale of fireworks; and with the Conservative MP for Cannock and Burntwood, Gerald Howarth who claims that the European Courts are dictating to their UK counterparts.
Next on the film the Labour MP for Wolverhampton North East, Renee Short, presents a personal report about the use of alternative medicines. She proposes that more use should be made of homeopathic and chiropractic treatments by the NHS. We see homeopathic medicines being manufactured by Weleda (likely to be at Ilkeston), marigolds being grown, and the production of Calendula cream. Renee Short interviews Penny Viner from Weleda and chiropractor George Starkey who is also shown treating a woman for back pain.
