Two men talk about their lives since losing their jobs. We see images of dilapidated factory buildings and waste ground. A BUG member talks about how the group was established, their NIACE funding and the programme they run. We see men woodworking and women doing needlework. A woman explains how they deal with childcare within the group. Members talk about the things they’ve done and the positive impact the group has had on their lives.
A member of BRAG - the Bradley Resource Action Group, explains how the group was created. Another member, one of the first to be involved, describes the early days of the group. We see men woodworking, a woman making a lampshade, a woman putting on goggles and turning wood at a bench. Shots of finished pieces - wooden objects, paintings and dolls. Women sit together sewing and talking about the difference the group has made to their lives. Members sit in a circle for their Monday meeting. Two men give heartfelt statements about how it’s possible for the unemployed to have a good life, over images of pigeons flying in a blue sky.
