Description

We see views of the sea front at St Leonards with the New Palace pier visible in the background. There is a shot of a performing monkey (Harry Rochez novelty act) and we then cut to fishing boats on the beach (Hastings or St Leonards) and a fisherman is seen darning his nets followed by more views of the sea front at Hastings. There is also an outdoor exercise class and swimming in an outdoor pool. We then see a May Procession towards Nottingham Catholic Cathedral in which groups of dressed up children march carrying banners. The next section shows the 1937 Ilkeston Carnival and we see marching bands, the arrival of the carnival queen and various floats including those designed by local tradesmen. There are also children in fancy dress. We then see buildings in London decorated for the Coronation of King George VI and a brief shot of the Booth and Son shop (Ilkeston) also decorated. Finally we briefly see night shots of illuminations for the Coronation in Wolverhampton.
