Description

(The first section is c1950) View of gardens at Bournemouth and street scene in the Dorset town. We then see views of the beach with the pier in the background and a paddle steamer can also be seen. Next from the pier we see the paddle steamers Lorne Doone and Embassy docking and people boarding Embassy. After views of sea birds we see views of the quay at Poole with boats in the harbour, more shots of gardens and a brief view of a miniature railway. We then see the estuary at low tide followed by shots of cars using the Sandbanks Ferry. A group of people walk towards the camera on a sandy beach and then sit in deck chairs and throw a rubber ring in a game of catch. After shots of a woman feeding a squirrel in a park we see the funicular railway in operation.

Back in Bournemouth we see further views of the beach, seafront and gardens (this appears to be a later trip c1955). A crowd stands and watches a mechanical clock in operation. Adults feed horses by a roadside and a mobile ice cream seller with scooter and sidecar stops. Further views of a crowded beach follow (some are in colour). We return to b/w for a visit to Corfe with views of the Castle Café, Ye Olde Tea House and Corfe Castle. The reel ends with b/w and colour views of people walking alongside a lake.
