The film opens with a netball tournament held in April 1962 at Philip Howard High School. We see girls from the school playing at match and a trophy being awarded to St Peter's school from Stalybridge and to Philip Howard who win the overall league and receive a trophy from two Catholic priests. Next we see the boys football team winning a match against St Joseph school from Reddish and receiving their trophy from Mr Gleason, chairman of the three counties league. We then see a May Day procession with children leaving a church in Glossop. The audio for this section is a hymn sung by children from the school. We then see flower beds at the school being prepared for the official opening followed by views of the opening ceremony held on 3 June 1962. This includes a marching band and procession led by a Bishop entering the school and a formal blessing inside. The text of the blessing is read out by the film's commentator.
