Description

Film stock dates range from 1955 to 1958.

We see trees being planted outside completed flats in Birmingham. Views of flats and maisonettes being constructed (signs for both Wimpey and Laing can be seen at various points in the reel but the exact locations are hard to determine). Views of cleared areas and streets with single houses still standing or corner pubs remaining. Exterior of old houses and businesses including the premises of Henry Corbett Ltd (paint) and an old pub - the Dolphin Inn. Views inside a metal fabricators. Shots of the works of Stern and Bell Ltd (both their old and new premises (the new building was on Stour Street in Ladywood). Views of the tower of St Thomas' Church on Bath Row. Long sections showing high angle views panning over part developed areas of Birmingham.
