Description

The film begins with shots of maypole dancing at a fete in East Leake, Nottinghamshire. There are shots of a playing field off Gotham Road, a tent with scout leaders and boys taking part in high jump, long jump and obstacle course races. Then we see shots of people watching marching bands and a fete queen handing out prizes to various scouts. Next there are shots taken from a window on the first floor of a building in Main Street in East Leake of floats and marching bands. Following this there is a game of cricket and cub scouts at a camp, raising a flag and standing by their tents.

Next there are shots of three girls in a back garden followed by shots of people seated in a café in an unidentified mountainous location, possibly in Austria. There are also shots of mountains, chalets and bears in an enclosure. Next we see shots of floats, bands and fancy dress in a parade on Main Street back in East Leake again. There are shots of army vehicles and machinery as part of an army careers stand at the fete next to St Mary’s Hall on School Green. In the next sequence there are various scenes in a garden of children playing with a dog, pushing a pram and a man twirling a baton. Finally there are shots of scouts inside East Leake Scout Hut, off West Leake Road, constructing a climbing rope and lowering the union jack flag.
