Description

Rather cryptically the first intertitle states 'Mrs C.Club Goes Out to Tea at Austy manor Wootton Wawen'. After a brief view of the exterior of Austy Manor we see people arriving by car at the entrance to the house. The guests are greeted and go inside. A high angle view of empty cups is followed by an animated intertitle: 'So This is Golf!', which is followed by shots of women putting on a lawn. Stop frame animation is used to comic effect when a golf ball take a circuitous route to the hole. The women then putt with a larger ball on a grid marked on the grass during which they appear to be judged. Women and men then go for lunch in a canteen where a large woman is seen making tea in jug and we see couples eating and drinking at tables. Two men are then given a comic 'health check' before they chase three rams around a field, eventaully catching one of them (the aim of the game?). The film (deliberately) runs backwards and there is one accelerated section as well. The film ends with more golf.
