The officer is interviewed about the need for proper locks on doors and windows as he explains that most ‘locks’ are in fact only catches.
He emphasises that people should shut all upstairs windows and not to leave keys in the lock on the inside. He advises that people fit security locks and bolts on doors and proper locks on windows.
For more sophisticated security he advises an alarm which could be activated by sensors and would cost £300-£400 for a simple system. At the end of the piece Richard Hudson-Evans ‘accidentally’ activates the burglar alarm.
