Description

Margaret Hounsell reads the news from a day in the 19th century wearing a costume of the time. We see a stagecoach pulled by horses leaving Hoar Cross Hall and travelling along a lane to the Meynell Ingram Arms. Guests dressed in period costume arriving for dinner. Peter Green talks to members of the Meynell family who are in character about the family's links to the beginnings of fox hunting (a Meynell moved to Quorn to set up the first hunt there) and care for local poor children. A group of hand bell ringers play as drinks are handed out prior to a Christmas feast in the pub. We see a pig roasting on a spit and the chef prepares game dishes for the diners. We see a group of choristers singing carols outside the pub and the food is served. Peter Green ends the item with a piece to camera dressed in Victorian bed clothes.
