Description

Reel contains a mixture of shots. We see production lines at Ryton-on-Dunsmore showing Hillman Avenger cars being produced. There are also brief shots of a clay full size mock up of an Avenger car (these shots are circa 1969). Cut in with this material are later shots (circa 1977) showing Chrysler Alpine cars being assembled at Ryton.

Notes

Chrysler acquired the old Rootes group in 1967 (makers of Hillman, Humber, Singer and Sunbeam cars). The firm was renamed Chrysler UK and merged with the French Simca company to become Chrysler Europe. Chrysler only gradually phased out the old names. The whole European operation collapsed in 1977 and was sold to Peugeot the following year. Chrysler models were re-badged Talbot following the take-over.
