Shots of Charles Irving outside the Palace of Westminster. Peter Plant talks to him about the role of the backbencher and how he wants a change in the convention of parliament working long into the night. Irving is chair of the House of Commons Catering Committee and we see him in this role inspecting the kitchens and chatting to the chef. He is also a prominent prison reformer and we then see him on a visit to Gloucester Prison. There is a further interview at his Cheltenham home where he talks about his art collection.
