We see Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh arriving at Macclesfield and being presented with a bouquet of flowers by a schoolgirl, followed by a visit to a silk mill in the Cheshire town. We then see the Queen meeting the well dressing queen of Buxton on a brief stop over. This is followed by shots of the royal party visiting the Royal Crown Derby factory on Osmaston Road in Derby and shots of the Princess inside observing the pottery-making process. The next sequence sees them arrive at Derby Council House where the Princess signs a visitors' book and the couple appear to the waiting crowd on a balcony. We then see the party arriving at Nottingham Midland Station and being greeted by the Lord Mayor (Alderman William Sharp). We see their motorcade travelling through Nottingham to a crowded Old Market Square and police attempting to restrain the crowd. The party then observe a display by local schoolchildren, including country dancing. We then cut to the Princess being presented with a bouquet by a little girl at Portland College near Mansfield and the Duke watching a parade of the boys' brigade. The final shots show the Princess laying a foundation stone for the college and being presented with a tankard.
