Description

Film begins with a title: "An excerpt from ATV Midlands News". We see various shots of the cloth pennant being transported from West Bromwich to Oxford (reminiscent of an Olympic torch relay). It is first carried by a dog and then attached to an invalid car; and then to a Morris Minor which drives along the A40. Three runners then collect it and jog along a road. We next see a group of young people dancing in the middle of a road holding the pennant. Scouts take up the next leg first on foot and then by boarding a bus. Finally we see their arrival at an event (where it appears that other groups have made similar journeys: a knight on a horse from Portsmouth and a man with his pennant attached to a broom from Langwell Green are seen) and the prize of a picture of Edmund Hillary is handed to a teenager in a hall.
