Description

"Nottingham Royal". The Royal Show at Wollaton in Nottingham includes a stand from the NCB and the Coal Utilisation Council plus a display of pit ponies. We also briefly see Ireland Colliery and William Thorpe Collieries in Derbyshire and Pleasley Colliery in Nottinghamshire which have supplied ponies for the show. Finally we see the arrival of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh at the show.

"Shake-down". At Whitwick Colliery in Leicestershire miners are using a new Butterley vibrating platform which shakes the coal down in each mine car.

"Invitation Dance". A group of Yugoslavian dancers and musicians entertain crowds at a Yorkshire miners gala in Rotherham.
