"Ideal Home". A visit to the 43rd Ideal Home Exhibition at Olympia in London which included a display of domestic coal equipment.
"50 Years On". Fred Draycott, the training officer at Sutton Colliery in Nottinghamshire is retiring after fifty years of service. We see a reconstruction of pre nationalisation mining and archive clips of the General Strike and the 1930s depression. We come up to date with shots of modern mining equipment at the pit, Fred training new recruits and Mrs Draycott at home making Fred's sandwiches.
"Hunting Country". Tom Wilson who is a miner at Madeley Wood Colliery in Shropshire is seen following his hobby of hunting for foxes with beagles. We see him and his family walking through the Shropshire countryside looking for his prey.
"Right Dress". A variety of protective footwear and gloves are seen being tested and in use in mines. We also see the contrast between a miner's boots and modern women's fashion boots.
