Description

"35 Years After". Sir James Bowman, Chairman of the National Coal Board, reopens Brynlliw Colliery near Swansea which closed in 1927.

"Stormy Genius". Director Jack Cardiff is seen shooting the feature film 'Sons and Lovers', a D.H. Lawrence adaptation, at the closed Brinsley Colliery near Eastwood in Nottinghamshire. We also see street scenes and housing in Eastwood which is the birthplace of Lawrence.

"East Wemyss". A visit to the picturesque village of East Wemyss in Fife where the principal industries are mining and weaving.

"Lot 150". A chair made from coal in Ayeshire has been sold by Sotherby's in London.
