Description

"Flying In". Miners at Wollaton Colliery in Nottingham are seen using an underground chair lift system to travel through the mine.

"Prince of Darkness". The Jayrich Film Society, an amateur film society containing members from the coal industry, are seen at work in Mansfield shooting a vampire film.

"Whiter Than White". John Slater of Mining Review visits the Bates Preparation Plant at Blyth in Northumberland to see the various processes involved in coal washing. We then see preparations for the International Coal Preparation Conference held at Harrogate.
