Description

Views of Halesowen town centre and traffic. (a commentary is provided for the middle section of the film). We see views of the Norman church of St John the Baptist in the town including details such as the gargoyles and an old market cross that used to be in the town centre but is now found in the churchyard. This is followed by views of the golf course and a boating pool with children rowing and pedaling small boats. This is followed by shots of a lake known locally as Ladypool and views of the canal and a brief shot of a boat yard with working boats. Back to the town centre we see more street scenes and establishing shots of the Council House, Library, College of Further Education and the Lyttleton Cinema. We then see the ruined Halesowen Abbey followed by a sports event at Halesowen stadium on Manor Lane. We see running events, cycle races on a banked cinder track and a women's walking race. The reel ends with views of the Clent Hills including riders on horses and a shot of the historic standing stones.
