Description

A woman sells newspapers on a street in Buxton. She is employed by a wealthy man who watches her from his window and then collects her takings. Another man arrives home to his cold flat and is visited by the wealthy man whom we discover is his landlord and has come to collect the rent. The poor man falls asleep and dreams of a more lavish lifestyle where he has a candlelit dinner with the paper girl. He wakes up to see the fire has gone out. Meanwhile the newspaper woman also has a fantasy that she wins a large amount of money by playing cards against the landlord. The poor man and the paper girl meet in the street and a relationship develops. The landlord has a dream that the other two characters are both dead due to his neglect. He wakes up and rushes to see the poor man who is not in his flat and the paper girl is not on her usual corner. Unbeknownst to the landlord they are enjoying a café meal together. Still panicked about the dream, the landlord drops his money in the street which the poor and now happy couple discover.
