Description

Following the main title we have a caption "Ruth Joins the Club". In b/w we see that Ruth has stopped her bicycle with a puncture by a Solihull town sign. Two men on bikes stop to help. One of the men who is spending more time 'chatting up' Ruth than helping is pulled away by the ear by a female cyclist who then in a group show Ruth the features of their racing bikes. We then cut to colour for examples of what the club has to offer (returning to b/w periodically for more scenes with Ruth learning about the club). The activities include road time trials, bicycle polo played in a field and a club run in which a large group set off on a ride including cyclists with youngsters in child seats or side cars. We also see a cycle race in a park (may be Handsworth Park). Nex we see a group of cyclists dressed as tramps riding away from Solihull (they are seen standing on Lode Lane). They stop for a camp where they light a fire and cook food. Returning to colour we see shots of riding through a ford and cyclists taking part in a cyclo-cross event where they climb a gate and cross a brook. Another mass cycle ride follows with the riders again going through the ford. After a b/w section in which the riders are on a banked track we return to colour and more shots of cycle touring along lanes.
