The film begins with the intertitle: "These pictures were taken by kind permission of Brig-Gen H. C. de la M. Hills C. B." and a shot of the Brigadier General. Another intertitle: "Tug of war" and we see soldiers taking part in a tug-of-war competition. This is followed by the intertitle "Long distance bomb throwing" after which soldiers are seen throwing hand grenades and groups of soldiers pose for the camera. Another intertitle: "Tent pegging" is followed by a soldier on horseback 'spearing' and lifting a tent peg out of the ground using a sharp lance - a difficult skill to learn that was often demonstrated at events such as these. This is then followed by officers and guests drinking refreshments. The film ends with the intertitle "Mounted display" after which we see horses pulling a gun carriage.
