Description

The programme is presented by Tony Francis. The first report is about the retained fire-fighters of Longnor village in Staffordshire and how they provide a fire service within the full time Staffordshire fire service. Includes an interview with Divisional Commander Peter Holland and views of the Staffordshire fire service control centre.

Alan Jones visits a leek farm near Stourport in Worcestershire where more leeks are grown than in the whole of Wales. Interview with farmer Frank Colwill about his crop and shots of the harvest and preparation of the vegetables.

Finally Tony reports from his own house at Wigginton in Hertfordshire about an infestation of a rare rodent called the glis-glis (also known as the edible dormouse). He calls in an expert after discovering the protected species in his roof. There are also b/w stills of Baron Lionel Walter Rothschild who lived at Tring Park and is to blame for the animals being in the Chiltern area as he was responsible for bringing the non-native rodent to the UK and letting them escape into the wild.
