Tony Francis introduces the programme from a boat on a lake. The first report from Anne Leuchars follows the Conservative MP for Rushcliffe, Kenneth Clark as he unwinds by birdwatching at gravel pits near Nottingham. We see Clark and a friend spotting and identifying various birds and he talks about the appeal of the hobby.
Next Alan Jones meets Eustace Rogers who is the only coracle maker remaining on the River Severn at Ironbridge. We see him paddling his craft down the river, constructing a coracle and in his workshop which is full of the antique tools of his trade. He explains how to paddle the round boat and its construction. We also see him carrying a coracle on his back with Ironbridge visible behind.
Finally, Tony visits Burrough on the Hill in Leicestershire to meet Barry Parish who brews what is thought to be the strongest beer in Britain, known as Baz’s Bonce Blower. He is the former landlord of the Stag and Hounds pub in the village and now runs his brewery from a nearby outbuilding. We see him brewing the beer which contains black treacle and delivering a barrel to the pub. Inside the Stag and Hounds Tony talks to locals about the strong beer and to landlord Peter Ierson who tells him about some of the drinkers who have been incapacitated by the strong beer. There are also set-up shots of people being carried out of the bar and shots of a farmer who arrives by tractor and has his pint delivered to his cab.
