Description

The film shows the operation of a traditional travelling fun fair. We begin with the setting up on a site by Barker's of Sileby. Equipment is unpacked from showmen's lorries and assembled in a time consuming process. John Barker is interviewed about the process and we also hear from his brother, Martin Barker who has recently bought a new ride called the Meteor. Several independent operators are also interviewed including Charlie Colton who regularly joins the Barkers for a travelling season. We also hear from the operator of a smaller children's ride and a shooting gallery. After the setting up we see the early arrivals to the fair which leads into busier night-time scenes. The film ends with scenes of the packing up and the lorries leaving the site on the way to their next location.
