Description

The opening credits are hand painted. The first part of the film features scenes of grass track motorcycle and sidecar racing in a country park and includes shots of people in the crowd. This is followed by similar scenes captioned as being filmed at Hinstock in Shropshire. The second section is entitled ‘V.E. Day Celebrations, Park Road’ and features views of people posing for the camera at a street party where children sit at a long table. A short row of terraced houses is visible behind. This is followed by a short sequence showing people sitting on the grass in Longton Park - there are also distant shots of child performers on a small outdoor stage including skipping and ballet dancers. The next section is captioned Fenton Park and is unfortunately out of focus. We can see children riding donkeys, accordion players and couples dancing. The final section shows a V.E. Day street party with children sitting down at a long table on Colville Street in Fenton. People hold up union flags over the table as a guard of honour.
