The first part of the film features events at Stafford Pageant and Carnival on Saturday 25th July 1964. Beginning with a poster we then see a parade with people dressed in costume (including two men in nappies) and a variety of decorated floats (some supplied by local firms such as English Electric and Lotus Shoes). The sequence that follows shows an elderly couple in the garden of their bungalow and includes close up shots of flowers and butterflies. We then see views of Victoria Park in Stafford beginning with a Bagnall narrow gauge locomotive (Isabel) on a plinth in the park and followed by general views and shots of swans on the River Sow. Next in Stafford town centre we see Church Lane and the exterior of the Old Soup Kitchen, people sitting on benches outside St Mary's Church, a woman collecting money for the Stafford Rag fund from motorists and preparations for a balloon race. We then see children paddling in a brook and people walking alongside a lake. We then continue with a poster advertising the 12th Stafford Scouts Garden Fete held on Saturday 27th June 1964 on the paddock adjourning 51 Old Croft Road at Walton. At the event we see a group of women doing an aerobic exercise routine for a crowd of people, scouts with a zip wire and lighting camp fires. We then cut to another event (c1968) in the grounds of a large stately home where we see a children's fancy dress competition, an outdoor orchestra recital, country dancing and a dog show.
