Description

The film begins with Captain Athelstan Popkess of Nottingham Police making a speech. We then see the ARP exercise involving fire engines, the rescue of 'victims', a burning building and a mock mustard gas attack from aircraft in which the rescuers don gas masks. A large crowd watches the exercise which takes place in Broad Marsh from behind a barrier. Water is sprayed from lorries to clear the gas contamination. The fire service douse flames using water pumped from a nearby canal.
