MACE Screenings

06/10/2009

On Tuesday 3rd November we will be at the Warwick Arts Centre in Coventry for a screening of archive film and documentaries about Coventry and Warwickshire.  Look out for wartime film shot at the Lockheed aviation factory in Leamington Spa and a 1960s look at the Coventry precinct.  Material from the archive will be shown alongside two recent documentaries: 'A Way of Life' by Alan van Wijgerden, which looks at the life of travelling people in the region, and a film about the Coventry ring road made by Talking Birds, that includes material from the MACE collection.  The screening starts at 6.30pm.  More details and booking information can be found here.

On Saturday 14th November we'll be marking Black History Month with a screening of material at the Central Library in Nottingham.  The free event, which is part of Nottingham City Council's Black History season, starts at 11.00am and will include art and craft activities, advice on how to trace your African or Caribbean family tree as well as a film event.  The theme of the screening is the black experience in the city during the 1980s and will include television material not seen for more than twenty years including first hand experiences of young unemployed black school leavers and a day in life of Nottingham's first black Sheriff.

More information about the event can be found on Nottingham City Council's website.
