Strike 1984
05/10/2009
Images of the 1984 miners' strike can be seen as part of an exhibition that focuses on the dispute at the Galleries of Justice Museum in Nottingham.
The exhibition, which includes artifacts from numerous sources as well as moving images from MACE was curated by Laura Allan, a PhD student at the Open University.
She spent time at MACE viewing material relating to the strike from the ITV regional news collection. From these viewing sessions she selected items for inclusion in the exhibition. MACE copied these on to mini DV, a digital tape format, and she had them edited into the seamless compilation of material that now enhances the exhibition.
In working with museums, galleries and record offices in the Midlands MACE does its best to simplify the process and minimise the costs involved, simply because the visitors to these attraction and resources are also MACE's primary users. If you're interested in using material that we care for get in touch with Richard Shenton.
STRIKE 1984 runs until August 2010 and if you would like to know more about this very interesting exhibition click here.
